DEB Construction, certified as a Great Place to Work® is seeking an Assistant Superintendent with experience in Tenant Improvements and Ground Up Construction. Our Assistant Superintendents are in a training program, that enables them to become successful Superintendents.
Job Summary: The Assistant Superintendent will be provided with the training and supervision needed to ultimately be promoted to Superintendent. In this position the primary responsibility is to support the Superintendent and Project Manager in the successful completion of assigned projects. Provide effective and consistent supervision and management of construction work for all trades and vendors to support the requirements of the contract and DEB Construction policies while delivering the project with DEB Construction’s standard quality, safety and schedule commitments. Communication (internally and externally), team building, collaboration with the lead Superintendent and Project Management Staff, problem solving, and leadership are key characteristics. Willing to work nights and weekends if required. May require travel up to 50% of the time.
Experience Required:
- Ability to learn to create and maintain 3 Week-Look Ahead using Microsoft Project
- Computer savvy and capable of effectively using Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and Outlook and Procore.
- Striving to develop the skills to be a dynamic leader with exceptional organization and communication skills (oral and written).
- The ability and willingness to do some self-perform work (framing, drywall, etc.) should it be required.
- High School Diploma
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and Manage Construction with Sub-Contractors
- Communicate scheduling to all impacted parties. This could include, end users, clients, subcontractors, etc. Appropriate distribution will be determined by the PM.
- Manage conformity to DEB quality standards
- Coordinate with other trades
- Manage the permit and process. Ensure that all inspections are completed in a timely fashion so as to not impact the overall project schedule. It is imperative that all work is reviewed and “QC’d” prior to inspections being requested.
- Have a solid understanding of the scope of the project, not only from what the drawings dictate, but also what we have committed to our clients via our proposal. Additionally, a firm understanding of each subcontractor’s scope and what they have been contracted to provide.
- Ensure that the subcontractors work and materials are being installed in alignment with the contract documents, approved submittals, shop drawings, RFI’s, addendum’s, etc.
- Manage Schedule for Conformity to Clients Needs
- Be observant that the progress of the project is meeting the scheduled completion dates
- Assure DEB Construction and Client Quality Standards are met.
- Generate three (3) Week Look Ahead weekly and publish to Subs and PM team (if applicable)
- Assist in managing Safety Program On-Site per DEB Construction and State Safety Requirements
- Conduct weekly safety meetings (Regardless of lead, or second position, this must be completed)
- Daily safety observation and maintenance. Generate and submit a daily safety check list
- Create and submit “Daily Reports” and submit at the end of every shift
- Identify and create JHA’s with various subcontractors, on an as needed basis. Consult with the Superintendent and/or Safety consultant on what activities will require a JHA.
- Maintain Timely and Accurate Job-Site Documentation
- Daily reports, Conversation reports, RFI’s, Safety meeting minutes, schedules using Excel at a minimum but preferably Microsoft Project
- Maintain a Professional Attitude and Demeanor at All Times
- Supervise and Manage Project Completion and Job Close-Out to Meet Schedule Requirements
- Manage completion of punch lists in a timely manner

- Assistant Superintendents shall take a minimum of four (4) classes per year that are applicable to their position.

Physical Requirements:
- Requires work indoors and outdoors in office and or job/construction sites.
- Requires visiting job/construction sites in personal vehicle.
- Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Such as boots, hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, ear protection, etc.
- Must physically inspect job/construction sites. Often job/construction sites have non-ADA compliant or accessible surfaces, elevations, rooftops, or floors and can require physically demanding situations.
- Can be exposed to hazards of job/construction sites, loud environments, and hazardous equipment.
- Can be exposed to all types of weather conditions while working both indoors and outdoors.
- Must be able to perform physical work, bending, using hand and power tools, carrying, lifting up to 50 lbs.
